The Mercedes-AMG E 63 S Wagon is that car that you take your kids on a weekend trip in and then hit the racetrack with. It can do both without any effort whatsoever. It’s spacious, fast and probably one of the most stylish estates out there, in an era when carmakers are ditching such body styles. But for Vath, all these were not enough.

So that is how the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S Wagon (Estate, T-Model, whatever) ended up with way more power than the one it rolled off the assembly line with. The tuning experts took it all the way to 891 PS (878 HP) and 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft). If you need us to remind you of the stock figures of this wagon, here they are: it’s 612 PS (604 HP) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque.

All of these impressive figures came out of the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8, the engine that is currently living its last days of glory in the E-Class performance lineup. The tuners mounted a larger intercooler and a new exhaust system with stainless steel tailpipes, enhancing the usual AMG soundtrack. A transmission oil cooler was also part of the plan.

Now the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S can do 214 mph (345 km/h) and runs from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.0 seconds.

And to match all the extra oomph, Vath worked on the looks of the sports wagon as well. 21-inch wheels in Michelin tires have replaced the standard 20-inch units. A new suspension layout brought the car 20 mm (0.8 inches) closer to the ground to make the car’s stance more impressive and looks more aggressive.

It was the right moment for Vath to work on the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S. The upcoming generation of the high-performance sedan/wagon is going to ditch the almighty V8. It will sport an electrified powertrain instead, which will include a 2.0-liter four-cylinder.
