The Mercedes-AMG GLC 63, faster than the AMG GT? Thanks to the 4Matic four-wheel drive system, a heavy SUV can beat a real sports car in a straight line.
In theory, a Mercedes-AMG GT is more efficient than a GLC 63 S. One is a genuine sports car, and the other a heavy SUV that uses the same 5.0-liter V8 biturbo developing 510 horsepower.
But in real life, the heavy SUV has a big advantage if you try to make a race start between the two models: a full 4×4 transmission.
That’s why Edmunds’ American reporters managed to clock the 0 to 60 mph (96 km / h) time in 3.5 seconds with this red GLC 63 S (see video). In comparison, they had timed the AMG GT on the same exercise in 3.6 seconds.
Of course, the AMG GT would show the advantage of its lower weight at the first corner or above 100 km / h. And in terms of driving pleasure, there is really no comparison …
