Auto Bild magazine has revealed the first computer picture of the future Mercedes GLE Coupe which will be revealed in 2019.
The second generation Mercedes GLE Coupe will be based on the new platform used also for the new GLE (W167) which was revealed on September 11 and will compete against the future BMW X6 and the new Audi Q8.
Mercedes hope to repeat the commercial success of the former generation GLE Coupe (C 292) which was launch at Detroit motorshow in January 2015 based on the third generation (W166).
The new Mercedes GLE Coupe will be powered by the new generation of 6 cylinder inline 3 liter petrol and diesel engines plus a new Plug-In Hybrid and a Hybrid version. A four cylinder engine is not expected but the V8 AMG will be on the list.
The range will include the GLE Coupe 350 d and 400 d with the new 6 inline 3 liter turbodiesel with 286 and 340 HP plus the new petrol 6 inline 3 liter GLE 450 Coupe which debut in the new GLE 450 4Matic.
The AMG GLE 53 Coupe will use the hybrid powertrain while the expected GLE Plug-In Hybrid will get the new battery with 13.5 kWh and a more powerful electric engine. Under the hood of the GLE 63 S we will find the new 4.0 liter biturbo V8 engine.
9 speed automatic gearbox and 4Matic all wheel drive will be standard across the range.
The first computer picture reveal the new headlamps and the big radiator grill which will be carried over from the former generation in a modified form. At the rear the new rear lamps will be longer and thinner followed the new design from the GLE.
The first computer picture shows a roof that descends steeply to the rear creating a more dynamic silhouette.
The interior will be taken over from the new GLE with the new MBUX multimedia system, the new double 12.3 inch screens and the four ventilation nozzles below the multimedia display.
