The safety-focused independent organization Euro NCAP marks as “very good” the performance of the Mercedes EQE in the test they performed. The business sedan has just received five stars.

Euro NCAP put to the test the EQE 350+ with the AMG Line Trim and the optional Driving Assistance Package Plus and a head-up display. The optional Driving Assistance Package Plus brings onboard several safety systems. The list includes the Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Active Speed Limit Assist, Active Traffic Jam Assist, Active Steering Assist, Active LaneChange Assist, Active Emergency Stop Assist, Active Brake Assist, Evasive Steering Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Pre-Safe Plus and Pre-Safe Impulse Side. The Active Emergency Stop Assist is the first such feature that Euro NCAP evaluated. In case the driver becomes unresponsive, the function safely maneuvers the car to the slowest lane and brings it to a stop.

All this equipment list may seem long and it comes with extra money. But the standard specification also achieved the “very good” mark. The report also mentions “excellent all-around performance.”

“We are delighted with these two outstanding results. They serve to prove that our assistance and safety concept, which is tailored to real accident scenarios, is just as effective in terms of standardized assessments,” says Markus Schafer, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz, who is responsible for Development and Procurement.

Mercedes claims to have developed a multi-stag high-voltage safety concept. The protection concept they worked on provides a high degree of safety while driving, but also in the worst-case scenario: a crash.

Euro NCAP awarded a 95% rating for Adult Occupant protection. Meanwhile, the protection of Child Occupants received 91%. The safety experts marked Vulnerable Road Users’ protection with 83% and awarded 81% for the Safety Assistance systems.
