At the presentation of the new generation Sprinter, Mercedes-Benz already announced last year that an electric variant would be available in 2019. Today, Mercedes has just started production of the eSprinter, a 100% electric version of the Sprinter van.

Mercedes has just launched a 100% electric version of the new Sprinter, called eSprinter. The vehicle recently entered production in Germany, in Dusseldorf, next to the combustion engine model which is also assembled in Ludwigsfelde.

In base trim, the Mercedes eSprinter is offered in a high-roof sheet metal configuration with a loading volume of 10.5  m3. The eSprinter is the all-electric variant of the Sprinter that gets a 116 hp and 295 Nm strong electric motor that powers the front wheels. This electric motor helps the eSprinter to a top speed of 80 km / h, although this can be increased to 100 or 120 km / h with the push of a button. This immediately makes it clear that Mercedes-Benz sees the eSprinter primarily as a workhorse for urban areas. The eSprinter is therefore intended for short trips.

Two batteries to choose from
Mercedes offers two battery options for e eSprinter. A module with a net capacity of 35 kWh offers a range of 115km for a payload of 1,045kg while a pack of 47 kWh allows you to travel 168km with a payload of 891 kg. On an 80 kW charger, the battery pack can be fully charged to up to about 80 percent of its capacity in one hour.
