Ten Mercedes-Benz eVito units have been delivered to e-commerce giant Amazon. The hand over took place at the company’s fulfilment center in Munich-Daglfing.
Amazon ordered the panel long body variant of the van introduced in 2017. They all wear the company’s dark grey colors and can already be spotted in the streets of Munich and the entire Bavaria. The deliveries will continue, as Amazon is trying to expand its zero-emission fleet.
“Inner-city delivery traffic for courier, express and package deliveries is the ideal field of operation for electrically powered vehicles. That’s why we’re so happy that Amazon has opted for the eVito and will now also be in a position to offer its drivers and customers in the Munich area all of the advantages which locally emission-free driving with our impressive Mercedes-Benz Vans offers”, Stefan Sonntag, Head of New Vehicle Sales within the Mercedes-Benz Vans sales organization for Germany, stated:
Adam Elman, Senior Lead for Sustainability at Amazon in Europe showed its content regarding the continuation of the collaboration with Mercedes-Benz: “Amazon recently co-founded “Climate Pledge” and strives to implement the conditions of the Paris Agreement on climate change in 2040 already – a whole ten years ahead of the Agreement’s defined fulfilment date of 2050. Strong partnerships such as this one with Daimler will enable us to achieve this aim”.
The Mercedes-Benz eVito features a battery of 41 kWh that provides the van with a range between 150 and 184 kilometers. Mercedes claims that the van can cover at least 100 kilometers even when facing the worst weather conditions, such as wintry temperatures.
The electric motor of the van delivers 85 kW and 295 Nm of torque, while the top speed can be configured according to the intended use at the time of ordering, thus saving energy.
The electric mid-size van can be configured in two different lengths: in the basic version with an overall length of 5140 millimeters or in an extra-long version measuring 5370 millimeters.
The eVito can also be used as a passenger transportation vehicle.
