A limousine converted into an off-roader? How in the world would someone do just that? Well, the aftermarket experts in the United Arab Emirates have the right answer to the question.
Dust off, let’s go, the desert is awaiting! Saudi Retro Cars 4Sale, headquartered in Sharjah, in the United Arab Emirates, less than 40 kilometers away from the land of the rich, Dubai, is selling this 1991 Mercedes-Benz 300 SE for 45,000 AED (about $12 000). Why this much for a car manufactured 24 years ago? The vehicle underwent a massive transformation, as it was redesigned for… the desert. Of course, what else, when it comes to the Middle East?
The car comes with a lifted suspension that maximizes the ground clearance. The AMG monochrome wheels covered in gigantic tyres improve traction and road (or sand) holding. The vehicle was equipped with rally-style yellow front lights to guarantee the driver a perfect sight in the deserted land of sand.
The former limousine current off-roader is advertised to be a Japanese import vehicle in an excellent condition, with a clock counting up to 173,503 kilometers and a vintage-looking interior. But no leather whatsoever, but plenty of wooden trims.
The engine of the customized 300 SE there lies a straight-six 3.0-liter power plant, developing up to 188 HP. Not really breath-taking according to today’s standard demands, but enough to make the camels sprint up to win this desert race.
