Mercedes-Benz is never shy about bringing the G-class back into the spotlight. At the IAA 2017 Frankfurt motor show we acquaint ourselves with the Exclusive Editions of the Mercedes-AMG G 63 and G 65.
Indeed, it is time to say good-bye to an off-road icon. Mercedes-AMG brings these two special editions to mark the end of the current generation G-Class’ carrier. A long tenure that has lasted for more than 38 years with only the occasional nip and tuck procedures meant to bring the legendary off-roader back up to date in terms of gadgetry and luxury.
But, and this is a big but, whoever wants to park the G 65 Exclusive Edition in front of his door has to spend almost € 12,000 more (in Germany) compared to the regular G 65. As such, the special edition of the G-Class with V12 seems to be one of the most expensive Mercedes 4×4 models ever.
The G 63 and G 65 Exclusive Edition are mounted on 21-inch alloy wheels, finished in glossy black. The G 65 gets lighter copies. Various designs are available for the wheels. The Monza Gray Magno lacquer is also special for this version. In the interior Mercedes fits two color leather on both the dashboard and the seats. Red seat belts are also part of the Exclusive package.
