So much for the silence! The Mercedes-Benz C 350 e Plug-In Hybrid latest TV ad has reinvented the Christmas carol “Silent Night”. The Mercedes-Benz eco limousine goes hard rock tonight!

The car runs noisily along the snow-covered roads, as the driver sets in the Sport+ mode and turns the volume of the sound system to the max. But once it enters the Elektra town, one dressed in Christmas lights, it goes silent and the “Silent Night” Christmas song spreads piano notes and soft choir through the frosty air of the winter midnight. That’s because the car knows when to run on electricity only, the commercial voiceover tells.

But then soon, the road indicator shows the car is leaving the town behind and the C 350 e Plug-In Hybrid goes into the… hard rock mode back again. Oh, wait! Was that a rock band it just passed by? So much for the silence now…

Combining 208 HP 2.0-liter petrol engine of the regular C 250 with the 80 HP electric motor, the C 350 e Plug-In Hybrid boasts impressive figures: a total output of 275 HP and 600 Nm of torque. They all go straight to the rear wheels via a 7-speed automatic transmission and make the car run the 0 to 100 km/h distance in 5.9 seconds. Maybe not a good idea to test it in the snow though…
