Mercedes-Benz will not launch new generations for the S-Class Coupe and Cabriolet, according to unofficial information from the international press, quoted by Motor1.com.
Mercedes-Benz prepares a number of major changes in the model portfolio, especially as it will launch a number of new developments in the range of electric models united under the new EQ brand. In this context, Automobile magazine claims that it has got a holf of secret plans for the German manufacturer until 2023.
The quoted source says Mercedes-Benz will launch the next-generation S-Class flagship in 2020, but at the same time it announces that the German manufacturer will not reveal new generations for the S-Class Coupe and Cabriolet. The decision is said to e based on sales data for the two models, which are not very sought after even in the luxury niche.
On the other hand, even if the two models will not get a new platform, Mercedes-Benz would continue to sell the current facelift up to the natural exhaustion of the stock.
The quoted source mentions that some of the customers interested in the S-Class Coupe may be re-orienting towards the Mercedes-AMG GT and the next Mercedes SL, which will get a new generation next year.
