And this has been it, the story ends right here and it’s not quite a happy end. Mercedes-Benz ends production of the G 500 4×4², so customers only have this month to order the behemoth. It is not the sales that made the executives decide it, but the intention to keep the car as exclusive as possible.

The phenomenal response to the show car determined those in charge at Mercedes to send it straight into production. The first model of the G 500 4×4² made its appearance in showrooms back in December 2015.

Especially developed for extreme adventures in the off-road, taking the DNA of the 6×6 beast, the massive SUV with portal axles is in total contrast with the cars with rigid axles. The wheels are not at the height of the axle center, but instead much lower down on the axle heads, due to the portal transmission, for an extra ground clearance that hits quite an impressive figure: 450 millimeters. That makes the fording depth just as impressive, at 1,000 millimeters.

The G 500 4×4² is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine with 422 horsepower. The monstrous vehicle boasts with a significantly wider track of the portal axles, compared with the standard G-Class, coming with extra +299 mm. Solid 22-inch wheels with 325/55 R22 tires and adjustable damping with a Sport mode, the extreme exotic G seems unbeatable on rough surfaces.

The Mercedes-Benz G 500 4×4² can still be ordered until the end of October, so you’d better hurry pay the price of 231,693 euros, VAT included!
