Mercedes will debut the brand’s new electric SUV next month. The upcoming Mercedes EQE SUV will slot right between the EQS SUV and the EQC crossover in the company’s electric lineup.

Mercedes is asking the electric SUVs enthusiasts to save the date. October 16 is the day they will be pulling the curtain off their EQE SUV.

It is easy to guess what will hide underneath a high-ride body. The SUV will carry over the propulsion options of the EQE Sedan in top versions. An AMG version is in the cards and it might make its debut right from the start, with up to 505 kilowatts (687 PS / 677 HP) and 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque. These are the figures that the AMG EQE 53 4MATIC+ boasts with when EQ Boost is engaged. That one runs from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.3 seconds (with 70% state of charge). But the SUV, considering the greater weight, might be a bit slower than that.

Mercedes claims “two powerful electric motors and variable all-wheel drive” are part of the plan for the future model. So is rear-wheel steering for easier handling in tight spaces. The 90 kWh battery pack will store the energy. The 107 kWh unit is reserved for the EQS lineup (both sedan and SUV).

The premium carmaker has already revealed the interior design of its upcoming electric SUV. So we should not expect any surprises in that area. The Hyperscreen will also be available, but for extra money. But the standard configuration includes the 12.8-inch screen.

It remains to be seen how potent the Mercedes EQE SUV will be off the tarmac. Last August, we published a story about a prototype getting stuck in the sand on a beach somewhere in California while testing there.

Stay tuned. There are less than three weeks until you get to find out all there is to know about the upcoming zero-emission Mercedes EQE SUV bearing the three-pointed star logo. It’s October 16, at 8 p.m. CEST.
