It was the family reunion of the police cars. A pretty cool family, we would dare say, since there is none under 300 HP. The event happened where else, but in Dubai, the city that hosts the tallest building in the world and where driving an Volkwagen means being terribly poor.
A Mercedes SLS AMG and a G-Class tweaked by Brabus, a couple of Lamborghini Aventador, some Bugatti Veyron, a few Bently Continental, several Aston Martin models and many such racers are the cars used by the Dubai police force to keep locals and tourists safe and sound in the city of the rich, yet not so famous.
It looks pretty much like a Need for Speed trailer, doesn’t it? Only this superfleet is the real thing, not just a video game.
Circling around the suspended highway built in the Emirates dessert and speeding up along one way tunnels, the cars brake right at the Marina Bay, by the feet of Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. The business tower goes 828 meters into the Arabian sky.
In the city of the only 7-star hotel in the world, the Burj-al-Arab, the police super cars tuned out for a a horse power exhibition. People who can only dream of such vehicles or see them on TV, got to take a picture behind the wheel of a super car.
In addition to the super fast and furious cars, the Dubai Police Force also uses helicopters and boats. There are currently 10 police stations in Dubai and there are 15 000 policemen covering the security of tourists and of the 2 millions residants.
