The all-new All Terrain is basically a T-Modell with 35 mm raised ground clearance, flared wheel arches, plastic body protections (front and rear underrun elements included) and standard 4Matic AWD system. The grille stands out as it now consists of two wide plastic slats. Also standard is the Air Body Control multi-chamber air suspension which offers the choice of three ride heights. In normal circumstances, the All-Terrain is 29 mm higher than a normal T-Modell. 14 mm of which are due to the larger wheels and 15 mm to the larger air cushion. An increase of 35 mm is the maximum possible, but only at speeds of up to 35 km/h. The ground clearance of the Mercedes E-Class All-Terrain varies accordingly between 121-156 mm.

Also new is the (derived from GLE) All-Terrain driving program in Dynamic Select, capable to optimize traction and comfort on bad roads. It adjusts the ESP, Active Yaw Control and ASC and lifts the suspension to its maximum 156 mm setting.

In the interior, the new Mercedes E-Class All-Terrain comes with special stainless steel sports pedals with rubber studs and all-terrain lettering pinned to the floor mats and door steps. Standard equipment is based on the Avantgarde trim level. The cockpit is decorated with aluminum and carbon fiber details. Otherwise, the All-Terrain is identical to the E-Class T-Modell, complete with the optional dual 12.3-inch TFT screens and steering mounted touch pads.

The six-cylinder E 350 d with 258 hp will join the range in 2017.
