Mercedes unveiled the new Mercedes EQE SUV in world premiere in Paris but not at the Motorshow.

Mercedes luxury electric range is now complete. The Mercedes EQE SUV is the fourth model built on the dedicated EVA electric platform used in the Mercedes EQS, EQS SUV and EQE.

The new Mercedes EQE SUV is 4863 mm long, 1940 mm wide and 1686 mm high, 262 mm shorter, 19 mm narrower and 32 mm less tall than its bigger brother Mercedes EQS SUV. The 3030 mm wheelbase is 180 mm shorter than the EQS SUV.

When it goes on sale, the Mercedes EQE SUV is available in three regular and two AMG versions, all with permanently excited synchronous motors (PSM):
– EQE 350+ (single rear engine) 215 kW/565 Nm
– EQE 350 4Matic (two engines) 215 kW/765 Nm
-EQE 500 4Matic (two engines) 300 kW/858 Nm

Mercedes does not announce the battery capacity but considering the official ranges, the Mercedes EQE SUV takes over the EQE’s 10-module battery with 90.6 kWh net. (EQS and EQS SUV have a larger 107.2 kWh battery with 12 modules). The battery can be charged at AC stations up to 11 kW standard (22 kW optional) or DC stations up to 170 kW and is guaranteed for 10 years and 250,000 km.

The basic single-motor model has the longest range, between 480 and 590 km (energy consumption between 17.7 and 21.8 kWh/100 km) while the twin-motor EQE 500 4Matic has a range between 460 and 547 km (energy consumption between 19.0 and 22.7 kWh/100 km).

The EQE SUV has standard classic suspension with steel springs while the air suspension with adaptive dampers is optional. The air suspension maintains a constant ground clearance regardless of the payload and can be raised by 30 mm at the touch of a button below 60 km/h, above 70 km/h  it is lowered back to normal level. The driver can choose Eco, Comfort, Sport and Individual modes plus an Off-road mode if the air suspension is ordered. At speeds above 120 km/h, the suspension drops 10 mm in Comfort mode and 20 mm in Sport mode. When speeds drop below 80 km/h, the suspension returns to normal.

Optionally, you can order integral steering with a 10-degree steering angle that reduces the turning circle from 12.3 to 10.5 m.

The EQE SUV is available exclusively with five seats and the boot volume ranges from 520 to 1675 litres. As with the Mercedes EQE, the Mercedes EQE SUV comes standard with a multimedia screen in portrait format, while the spectacular Hyperscreen is optional.

Production will begin in December 2022 at the Tuscaloosa, Alabama plant, with the first models being delivered to Europe in spring 2023. Mercedes has not yet announced prices but by comparison with the Mercedes EQE, we expect a base price of 75,000 euro for the EQE SUV 350+ (EQE 350+ 70,210 euro).
