2019: Mercedes SL
The Mercedes SL will be the first model based on the new MSA platform – set to be shared with the next-gen SLC. This architecture is scalable in length, width and height, as well as the wheelbase and lowers the vehicle weight. The new SL should weigh 1,700 kilograms. In all likelihood the new Mercedes SL will no longer be offered with a heavy folding hardtop but, like the S-Class convertible or the Mercedes E-Class convertible, with a lightweight fabric top. In the “basic” version, the Mercedes (as SL 400) will be powered by the new three-liter twin-turbo inline six-cylinder with 435 hp. The SL 500 will use the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 at the start. Two AMG versions will sit at the top of the SL range. READ OUR MERCEDES SL 400 TEST HERE.
