2020: Mercedes SLC / SLA
The future of the Mercedes SLC is still up in the air. Despite the dissapointing sales figures Mercedes does not want to kill the compact roadster. For cost reasons, the fourth generation SLK will share its technical basis with the future SL and this allows for a flatter mounting position of the engine and transmission with a corresponding lower center of gravity and optimum weight distribution. The big question mark: will Mercedes replace the metal folding roof with a soft top? Rumors also say Mercedes could launch a smaller SLA roadster based on the A-Class platform.
