Upcoming Mercedes-Benz E-Class W213 has been caught again, this time in AMG guise. New spy photos show C 63 AMG shared styling cues.
The design gives us the expected C-Class vibes, the only detail that seems to differentiate the E-Class from its bigger/smaller siblings being its tauter, slightly sportier proportions. As evident in the new pics, Mercedes plans two distinct front-end treatments, a traditional chrome grille and a more sporting blade grille for the sportier Avantgarde line. Spy pics show the AMG line model, given away by its wide, gaping lower air-intake.
The all-new E-Class is expected to inherit the MRA modular platform from the W205 C-Class with the wheelbase extended for superior interior space. The engine line will be all-new for the E-Class, also mimicking the C-Class’ collection of fresh petrols and diesels. The 4-liter twin-turbo will be used in its aspirated form to replace the old 4.7-liter of the E500/550.
According to latest rumors, Mercedes is also going back to its L6 roots, developing a new twin-turbo 2.9-liter inline-6 engine. And this is not all, as the all-new MRA platform can also support engines as small as the 3-cylinder units expected to debut alongside the refreshed A-Class, next year.
