Are we going somewhere? We are! Are you ready for this ride? We’re off to the mountain tops and we’ve got just the right car to do it. And we’ve got great company, too. The Mercedes-Benz G-Class takes on the challenge of the “German Roamers”, outdoor experts traveling on their favorite routes through the mountains of South Tyrol.

The color-changing of the trees leaves, the snow-covered peaks, the blurry clouds suspended above ever-cold lakes. It is South Tyrol up in the Dolomites. The photographers spent no less than seven days exploring Italy’s northernmost province. Their travel companions were two G-Class SUVs. Six outdoor lovers traveling by the Mercedes rugged giants.

Narrow roads broken by serpentines creep through the mountains. Only a guardrail separates the Gs from the abyss. The nature amazes the travelers after every corner. Steep inclines are no trouble for the all-mighty SUVs. The military vehicles were made for that in the first place.

“We stopped all along the way to take pictures and to simply enjoy the view. But obviously we gave the cars a chance to show what they’re made of”, the photographers say.

The cliffs of the Vajolet Towers soar majestically into the clouds, defining a rocky skyline bathed in the melted sunlight. Leaving the SUVs behind and climbing for four hours to the top of the mountain, deliberately choosing the sharpest ascents and most difficult routes in the name of adventure, is no easy mission.

“When we reached the top, we were utterly exhausted. We had absolutely no energy for celebrating,” they tell of their fascination of the mirror of heaven itself. “We were totally blown away by the amazing view. It’s an indescribable feeling to get to the top and experience the last sun rays. We just sat there and revelled in the scenery. This absolute peace, the remoteness, the light. Every step was worth it.”

The adventurers have fully earned their right to the breath-taking scenery. Happy and exhausted, they treat themselves to local cuisine.
