Mille Miglia: First ever female team in the legendary race

Ten Mercedes-Benz classics are joining the Mille Miglia of 2016, starting May, 19th. In a world premiere, Mercedes-Benz Classic is entering an all-ladies team. The new brand ambassador Susie Wolff and former DTM racer Ellen Lohr will be sharing the cockpit of a 300 SL.

Autombiles from the SSK to the 300 SL shall be running the 1000-mile historical race from Brescia to Rome and back. This year, Susie Wolff and Ellen Lohr are joining hands in the first ever all-female team to recall the successful history of the Mercedes-Benz female drivers.

Finally proved eligible for the first time last year, the Mercedes-Benz 190 SL entered by Mercedes-Benz Classic, together with other four, privately owned 190 SLs, will be at the start of the legendary race.

The MB team also includes six 300 SLs, a 220 a and an 180 D among a total of 30 classics that are set to cover the 1600 kilometer distance, after all the 665 vehicles from 40 countries would have undergone the technical inspection in Brescia.

The schedule of the race:

May, 19 – the start of the race, in Brescia, heading to Ferrara and Ravenna and then Rimini, a one-hour drive from Bologna.

May, 20 – San Marino, back to the Adriatic Sea Coast, across the Apennines and straight to Rome.

May, 21 – Florence, Bologna, Modena, Parma.

May, 22 – Parma via Cremona, Monza, Bergamo and back to the start city of Brescia.

The first ever female-driver to achieve a victory in DTM, Ellen Lohr, the Formula One Safety Car driver, Bernd Maylander and the British Young Driver of the Year two years in a row, Susie Wolff, are just few of the famous people that will take a seat behind the wheel of the Mercedes classics.
