The Mercedes Vision EQXX prototype has managed for the third time to cover more than 1,000 km between two charges, this time in the Middle East, between Riyadh and Dubai.

In 2022, the Mercedes EQXX prototype managed to cover more than 1,000 km (621 miles) between charges on two different routes.

In April 2022, the highly aerodynamic concept, with a Cx of only 0.17, covered 1,008 km (626 miles) from Sindelfingen (Germany) to Cassis on the Cote d’Azur (France) in 11 hours and 32 minutes, with a remaining range of 140 km (87 miles) at the end of the journey. Energy consumption was 8.7 kWh/100 km.

Two months later, in June 2022, the Mercedes EQXX broke the previous record and managed to cover 1,202 km (747 miles) between two charges, from Stuttgart (Germany) to Silverstone (Great Britain) in 14 hours and 30 minutes.
Energy consumption was 8.3 kWh/100 km.

Now, the Mercedes Vision EQXX has managed for the third time to cover more than 1,000 km (621 miles) between two charges, driving 1,010 km (627.6 miles) from the Mercedes Center in Riyadh to the recently opened Mercedes Brand Center dealership in Dubai. The distance was covered in 14 hours and 42 minutes, and at the end of the journey, the Mercedes Vision EQXX still had a range of 309 km (192 miles). The journey started in Riyadh at 4:15 a.m. and ended in Dubai at 7:57 p.m. This time, the energy consumption was even lower, at only 7.4 kWh/100 km (8.4 mi/kWh).

The route included urban and suburban sections in Riyadh and Dubai with heavy traffic, but also long stretches of highway in the middle of the desert. The lower energy consumption was due to the route being flatter without many climbs, the outside temperature was higher, up to 34 degrees, and the 117 solar cells on the roof charged 1.8 kWh into the system, which helped increase the range by 24 km.

The Mercedes Vision EQXX has so far covered 23,340 km (14,503 miles), testing its pioneering electric technology under a wide range of demanding real-life conditions. This is not the last trip for the Mercedes concept, which will make two more attempts to exceed 1,000 km (621 miles) between two charges in China and the U.S.
