Mercedes pickup truck gets ready for Autumn debut. After being revealed in concept form last year, the upcoming X-Class has now been caught in production clothes during winter testing.
After the Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet premiere this morning, we have again news about a high-legged Mercedes. The X-Class, a pickup that shares its genes with the Nissan Navara, has been exposed to the bitter cold of the arctic.
As far as we can see from these new spy pics, the appearance of the pickup is a lot less quirky than the X-Class Concept hinted. Broadly, we see a Navara, equipped with a Mercedes grille and different mirrors.
What is changed though, is the engine. The Mercedes X-Class is bound to retain the concept car’s 3.5-liter V6 diesel engine that will find its way to the production version. The 160 hp 2.3-liter diesel Nissan is currently using for its own Navara was deemed to small for a premium pickup. All-wheel drive (4Matic) is standard on the X-Class.
The official reveal of the Mercedes pickup will take place this Autumn. We would place our bets on the IAA motorshow in Frankfurt, taking place in September.
