The future Mercedes GLB, a new compact SUV with 7 seats based on the A-Class, launches next year. Thanks to our colleagues from Carscoops we can now see how the interior looks like.

World first: Mercedes GLB compact SUV revealed in new spy pics

This is by no means the first time that a GLB has been recorded on film. The car already appeared twice before, but this is the first time the dashboard has been photographed. Of course, there are no real surprises, as the GLB is clearly getting the same layout and MBUX state-of-the-art infotainment system as its smaller siblings from the A-Class family.

The Mercedes GLB is one of the models which will soon join the Mercedes’ compact model family. The car shares its MFA2-basis with the new A-Class, which gets lots of other derivatives. The A-Class Sedan and the B-Class have already been launched, but in addition the brand with the star still has to reveal the new CLA, a new CLA Shooting Brake, a new GLA and the GLB.

The engines are also similar to the ones available for the current A-Class. Expect at least a GLB 180 and a GLB 200, most probably also a GLB 250 and an AMG variant. The 107 hp engine that Mercedes-Benz uses now for the A 160, will undoubtedly be passed by, due to its diminutive size.

Outside, design-wise, the Mercedes GLB is a smaller cross between the iconic G-Class and the current GLS. The car seems to get a relatively striking angular shape and with that the SUV even looks a bit like the GLK of yesteryear. Basically, the GLB will have standard front wheel drive. 4Matic drive will be reserved for the more powerful versions.
