Mercedes will present the Mercedes CLA Concept at IAA Munchen in two days, the first compact electric model built on the new MMA architecture, which promises a WLTP range of 750 km (466 miles).
Two days before the world premiere at the Munich Motor Show, Mercedes has officially announced the range of the upcoming Mercedes CLA electric. The range has an impressive value of 750 km (466 miles).
The third generation Mercedes CLA debuts with the electric version and is the first model in the new compact range built on the new Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA). This is the second full electric platform developed by Mercedes for the electric era after the EVA used in the Mercedes EQE/EQE SUV/EQS/EQS SUV.
The main features of MMA platform are:
– operates at 800V
– has silicon carbon inverter
– 2-speed gearbox
– New generation permanent magnet synchronous electric motors with scalable length, larger active diameter, and optimized oil cooling
Mercedes promises that the new Mercedes CLA electric will be very efficient, with an official consumption of around 12 kWh/100 km. Taking into account the 750 km range, we can estimate that the battery will have a capacity of around 90 kWh, similar to that of the Mercedes EQE and EQE SUVs.
Mercedes has not yet announced the Cx of the new CLA, but given the very low power consumption, we expect a Cx between 0.22 and 0.24. More official information will be announced at the press conference on Monday, 3 September.
Mercedes is also launching a new global marketing campaign called “Defining Class since 1886” at the Munich show.
The Munich Motor Show will see the premiere of the Mercedes EQA, EQB, and EQV facelift, as well as the new Mercedes E-Class All-Terrain and the Mercedes-AMG GT Concept E Performance. Visitors will also be able to book passenger rides in the Vision EQXX concept, which has a range of over 1,200 km.
