Mercedes will present the concept of the future Mercedes CLA at the IAA Mobility 2023 in Munich. It will be the first model built on the new “electric-first” MMA platform.

Mercedes has officially announced that it will showcase the future Mercedes CLA concept at the IAA Mobility 2023 in Munich on September 5-10, with the press release accompanied by a profile silhouette of the car.

The first photo shows the highly aerodynamic silhouette of the third-generation Mercedes CLA that will take some aerodynamic elements from the Mercedes EQXX concept. The proportions of the concept can be seen very clear in the first official picture and the front end is long enough to accommodate conventional engines. The MMA platform has been developed according to the “electric first” philosophy but will also be able to accommodate engines as a range extender in countries where the charging station network is not sufficiently developed.

The 3- and 4-cylinder internal combustion engines will come from the new partnership with Geely and can be installed longitudinally and transversally, which means they are suitable for both the compact range and the next generation C-Class which will be built also on the MMA platform, including an electric version. The new 3 and 4-cylinder modular engines will be built in the new Geely factory in China, which will be one of the biggest engine plant in the world. The third generation Mercedes CLA will be introduced in 2024 and will be followed by the future GLA and GLB.

Alongside the future Mercedes CLA concept, Mercedes will present at IAA Mobility 2023 in world premiere the facelift of the Mercedes EQA, EQB and EQV and the new Mercedes E-Class All-Terrain.
Mercedes will also showcase in parallel the Vision EQXX and Vision One-Eleven concept, a reinterpretation of the experimental 1970s C111 vehicle.

IAA Moblity’s Open Space concept gives visitors the opportunity to get up close and personal with Mercedes’ electric and PHEV models. Thus, visitors will be able to travel as passengers in 30 electric and electrified models from Mercedes including the Vision EQXX concept. This is the first time that the general public will be able to ride in this revolutionary aerodynamic concept.
