The Mercedes-Benz stadium in Atlanta will serve as a COVID-19 vaccination center. The venue announces partnership with local health authorities.
The home stadium of Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United in MLS has partnered with Fulton Country Board of Health. The sports center will thus become a distribution center for the COVID-19 vaccine.
The distribution of the vaccine in the United States began on Monday, January 4th, 2021. Phase I includes medical practitioners, front line workers and first responders. More than 4,000 people received the serum in the first week.
The partnership between Mercedes-Benz Stadium and health authorities could be extended
The partnership between the sports venue and the medical authority will run through March. There is also an option of extension if necessary. The purpose is to serve more residents as fast as possible, thus reducing the risk of infection in communities.
“We are very proud to partner with Fulton County Board of Health to offer Mercedes-Benz Stadium to host vaccine distribution”, Steve Cannon, CEO, AMB Sports and Entertainment states. “This is a time for our communities to unite together and do what’s right for our citizens. Mercedes-Benz Stadium offers the opportunity to socially distance while servicing large numbers of people at once. It is our honor to be a part of this solution and will do it as long as possible to serve our community.”
“We are overjoyed to partner with such a forward-thinking, community-minded organization as Mercedes-Benz Stadium and AMB Sports and Entertainment ,” Lynn Paxton, district health director, Fulton County Board of Health, says. “Partnerships are essential to public health. These types of collaborations result in positive health outcomes as they ensure the quality and accessibility of health services to our community.”
The representatives of the sports center recommends people to get the anti-COVID-19 vaccine as soon as possible. It is the only way for the stands to be full of supporters again.
