The new 1.3-liter TCe engine was introduced by Renault on Scenic and Grand Scenic. According to rumors, the Mercedes GLA, GLC, A-Class and B-Class will also inherit the same turbo unit.

At the beginning of the month, the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi and Daimler Alliance launched a new gasoline engine. It is part of the Energy TCe family, it has a capacity of 1.3 liters and is available in three versions: 115 hp / 220 Nm, 140 hp / 240 Nm and 160 hp / 260 Nm.

The basic version of the engine will be offered only with a manual gearbox, while the 140 hp and 160 hp versions will also be available with the EDC automatic transmission.

The first models in the Renault range that received the 1.3-liter gasoline engine are Scenic and Grand Scenic. The new motor will be produced at the Renault plant in Valladolid, Spain, at the Nissan plant in Sunderland, England and at the Daimler factory in Kolleda, Germany.

For the moment, Mercedes-Benz officials have not yet announced the models that will receive the new engine, but sources close to the company say the Germans will put the 1.3-liter unit in the GLA, GLC, A-Class and B-Class.
