Recently, the new Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake was finally confirmed to make a comeback in second-gen guise and now Carscoops.com also has the first spy photos photos of the slick lined station wagon.
Mercedes-Benz is currently preparing a huge model offensive in the compact segment. In a relatively short time frame we have been introduced to variants such as the new A-Class hatchback, the A-Class Limousine, the new B-Class, the new GLE, a new CL and the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé. Later on a new GLE Coupé, a new GLS, a sharpened GLC and GLC Coupé and a set of additional compact models will be added to the line-up.
As far as those smaller Mercedes are concerned, the German company has the GLB 7-seater SUV and a completely new CLA family in the pipeline. The CLA family, despite the fact that the A-Class Limousine is already a compact sedan, consists of a four-door sedan (with coupe profile) and a brand new CLA Shooting Brake. The Shooting Brake was rumored to be cancelled, due to disappointing sales of the first gen, but Mercedes decided to gamble once more.
As we can see in these latest spy pics, the new Mercdes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake follows the recipe of its predecessor and that means that the new generation is a station wagon with a steeply sloping roof line. Of course, the interior space will be slightly affected by design, but Mercedes prioritized the sporty look against headroom or trunk volume.
Meanwhile, the CLA Sedan will be placed above the A-Class Limousine in therms of pricing and it is plausible that Mercedes-Benz does its best to give these two models different characters. We therefore expect that the new CLA family, of which this Shooting Brake is a part, has a bigger commercial impact than the previous round. A public debut is expected next year in March at the Geneva Motor Show.
