The Mercedes-Benz C350e was selected the 2017 Connected Green Car of the Year at the Green Car Awards, at the gala that took place in Washington DC. The BMW X5 xDrive40e was designated the Green SUV of the Year, while the Acura NSX snatched the Luxury Green Car of the Year award.

The Mercedes-Benz C350e provides the high-class luxury and driving pleasure of the C-Class conventional sedan, but brings additional efficiency with its plug-in hybrid system. It bears all the safety systems and gadgetry that connects the car with the outside world, benefitting from on-board cameras and sensors that adorn it with autonomous and semi-autonomous features. Avoiding pedestrian and vehicle collision all thanks to its automatic emergency braking, as well as steering assist are just a few of the features that make it a top car.

“Winners of the 2017 Green Car Awards™ in Washington DC illustrate just how far the automotive market has advanced in recent years,” stated Ron Cogan, editor and publisher of Green Car Journal and CarsOfChange.com. “The desire for more efficient and environmentally positive vehicles has grown across the automotive spectrum, including in the luxury, connected, and SUV categories honored at the Washington Auto Show®. The auto industry has clearly stepped up in a big way to deliver the ‘greener’ models consumers want to buy.”

Safety, quality, value, performance and functionality are considered at the 2017 Green Car Awards values that make the difference in the automotive world. The awards designation is based on permanent development of the new car technologies, as emphasis is placed on new models and those in their earlier stages of the model lifecycle.
