Mercedes-Benz has opened the order books for its recently facelifted A-Class. Prices for the Baby Benz start at 23,746 euros in Germany for the entry-level A 160 1.6-litre with 102 HP.
This translates to a moderate increase ranging from 184 to 892 euros, depending on version. The biggest price increase is for the Mercedes-AMG A45 4Matic. For the cheapest diesel, customers will have to dig a little deeper in their pockets. The 109 HP 1.5-litre A 180 d BlueEFFICIENCY Edition is available from 27,851.95 euros and promises a fuel consumption of only 3.5 l/100 km.
Meanwhile, the world’s most powerful compact sports model, the Mercedes-AMG A 45 4MATIC, can be yours for 51,051.00 euros. Blessed with a more potent 381 HP engine, it delivers 21 hp more than its predecessor and comes with standard features such as 4MATIC all-wheel drive, LED High Performance headlamps and the new AMG DYNAMIC SELECT driving modes “Comfort”, “Sport”, “Sport +” and “Individual”. As part of the AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package (extra for 2618.00 euros), the smallest AMG badged car now features an all-new front axle differential.
As tradition dictates, Mercedes-Benz also offers a special launch edition, called the “Motorsport Edition”. Available for all engine variants from A 200/A 200 d upwards, although not for the fully-fledged Mercedes-AMG A 45 4MATIC as well, it is set to increase the A-Class bill with 4849.25 to 6307.00 euros.
Dynamic Select is standard for A 200d 4Matic, A 220 4Matic, A 220d, A 220d 4Matic, A 250 4Matic, A 250 Sport an A 250 Sport 4Matic, as well as for all A-Class models equiped with the 7G-DCT gearbox or the AMG Line package with lowered suspension. The system adjusts the response of the engine, transmission, suspension, steering and air conditioning in four driving modes: Comfort, Sport, Eco and Individual. For all other engine variants, except the two BlueEFFICIENCY Edition models, Dynamic Select costs an additional 95.20 euros.
The A-Class facelift can also be specified with the all-new suspension with Adaptive Damping System. The option is well worth the 892.50 euros asking price, allowing the driver to modify the vehicle’s damping characteristics using the DYNAMIC SELECT switch in two modes, Comfort and Sport.
Other news in the model range include manual transmission for A 250 and A 250 Sport which has a revised engine with power increased from 211 to 218 HP. The A 220 d is now 7 HP more powerful than before with 177 HP. In combination with 7G-DCT dual clutch transmission the A-Class has Launch Assist.
