The Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro reminds those who worship the Black Series variant that there is yet another model that can be incredibly fast. The Pro laps the Hockenheim.

The Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro lives in the shadow of the new Black Series. It used to be the top-of-the-range, but now it has to settle for the second best.

At Hockenheim, pro driver Christian Gebhardt was behind the steering wheel of the absolute beast from Affalterbach. The car that he drove was a variant that TIKT worked on.

Therefore, the model came with a carbon fiber body kit. It includes a new hood, a redesigned front splitter, canards and a rear wing. Additional air vents showed up. The car also benefits from improved steering and brake cooling.

During the hot lap at Hockenheim, the Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro runs on 10×19-inch wheel at the front and 12×20-inch wheel at the rear, with lighter structure than the standard ones.

It also received GT3 bucket seats, for a lower weight and enhanced safety.

The tuning house has also worked on the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, that standardly develops 585 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. The experts took the output all the way to 770 horsepower and a peak torque of 850 Nm.

How long did the Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro took for a lap at the Hockenheim?

With these figures at  hand, the Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro lapped the racetrack in 1 minute and 45.10 seconds. That makes it almost three seconds faster than the standard variant. According to the FastestLaps ranking, it managed to beat the McLaren 720S, which took 1 minute and 45.50 seconds for a lap, the Ferrari 488 Pista with 1 minute and 49.90 seconds, as well as the Lamborghini Aventador with 1 minute and 47.30 seconds.

It is still far though from the performance of the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series. It only took 1 minute and 43.30 seconds for a lap with the same driver in control.
