Sun can’t wait. Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster, the drop-top sibling of the current GT supercar will be unveiled at the Paris motor show, this Autumn (October 1st-16th).
Currently, the already dense AMG GT program includes the standard, S and R versions, but the range is set to expand with the said roadster. A model which would pay homage to the illustrious history Mercedes has in this area.
As expected, the same 4.0-liter V8 bi-turbo from the AMG GT will sit under the long front bonnet. Because the fabric roof makes more body reinforcements necessary, it is likely that the AMG GT Roadster C could also gain a few more horsepower compared to the Mercedes-AMG GT S (510 hp) to overcome the extra weight. However, plenty of room will be left between the C Roadster in S guise and the 585 hp reserved for the AMG GT R top model.
Commercial debut is slated for Spring 2017. This is what the recently revealed 2016/2017 new model calendar says. Remarkable is the naming which Mercedes has prepared for the model: AMG GT Roadster C. What C stands for is not yet clear. A Mercedes-AMG GT C Coupe is also featured in the schedule, most likely the four-seat variant of the current two-door AMG GT.
