Next year, Mercedes-AMG will launch a plug-in hybrid variant for the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe. And this is not all! The most extreme model of the German manufacturer, the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series, is also debuting in 2020.
According to statements made by Michael Knöller, director of the Sales and Management department of Mercedes-AMG, for 2020 the performance division is preparing two top models.
The current Mercedes-AMG GT will finally be available in the hotly anticipated Black Series version. The latest model to receive such a variant was the SLS AMG, and in the case of the old supercar, the performance division’s engineers not only offered more power, but also a special dynamic behavior.
According to Mercedes-AMG official statements, the future AMG GT Black Series will be one of the most “extroverted” models developed so far by the German manufacturer’s sports division. Production of the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series is expected to start by the end of next year.
The second major surprise prepared by the Mercedes-AMG performance division is a plug-in hybrid version for the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe (the four-door version of the AMG GT).
The plug-in hybrid system prepared by the Germans will be based on the 4.0-liter V8 engine. Under these circumstances, the future PHEV developed by Mercedes-AMG will have sufficient resources to compete with the current Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid.
The new variant is expected to enter series production by the end of next year.
