Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S has claimed the lap record for SUVs on the famous Nurburgring Nordschleiffe from the previous holder, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio.
Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S managed to tour the Nurburgring circuit in 7 minutes and 49.3 seconds. The car was more than 2 seconds faster than the Alfa and 10 seconds faster than the Porsche Cayenne Turbo. The Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio succeeded in running the route in 7 minutes and 51.7 seconds. Third fastest SUV is the Range Rover Sport SVR, with 8 minutes and 14 seconds.
The Mercedes is powered by a 510 hp V8 engine with two turbos. The GLC accelerates to 100 kilometers per hour in 3.8 seconds and has a limited top speed of 250 km / h – the optional AMG driver package takes Vmax up to 280 km/h. The 4Matic+ all-wheel drive is of course delivered as standard and is coupled to a nine-speed AMG Speedshift MCT automatic transmission. Four driving modes are available via the Dynamic Select program: “Comfort”, “Sport”, “Sport Plus” and “Individual” – plus “Race” for S models only.

The Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio has the same power, but it uses a smaller V6 engine instead of a V8. The sprint time is also the same as that of the Mercedes-Benz. However, the top speed of the Alfa is 283 km / h.
