Mercedes tops the GLC family with another AMG version: the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63, which will come in two body styles, regular and Coupe, with a V8 engine of up to 510 bhp under the hood. We have the prices.
At the New York Auto Show 2016 the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 debuted as a preliminary top model of the GLC series. The Mercedes GLK successor comes with a 367 HP strong three-liter V6 therefore. But the real flagship of the GLC SUV series followed at the New York Auto Show 2017 as the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 with a V8 engine, also available as a coupe. Here, too, the motorized general purpose weapon of the Affalterbach sporty division is used: the 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine.
In the normal version, the AMG 63 will come with 476 hp and 650 Nm, in the S version power goes up to 510 hp and 700 Nm. The units are coupled with a new automatic gearbox, the switching times of which are significantly reduced. The GLC and GLC Coupe reach 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds, respectively 3.8 seconds.
After the AMG E-Class, the GLC now also receives the all-wheel drive Performance 4MATIC + with fully variable torque distribution between front and rear axle and rear axle differential (electronically controlled in the S version). The driver can also influence the characteristics of the GLC 63 4MATIC + with the DynamicSelect “Comfort”, “Sport”, “Sport Plus” and “Individual” driving programs. The sound of the V8 is controlled by a valve in the exhaust. Suspension is carried out by means of air suspension with adaptive adjustment damping.
Compared to the 43 model, the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 not only comes with more power and more cylinders. The top model receives a more aggressive front apron with larger air intakes, a Panamericana grill, wheel arch extensions, new side skirtings and modified tailpipes.
The interior of the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 is also trimmed in sports. On board are leather sports steering wheel, AMG plaques and entry boards, sports seats, AMG instruments as well as aluminum and carbon finish.
