Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM 2016 car is no longer a secret. Daimler’s competition arm has revealed a full set of official teaser sketches, less than a month and three more races before the climax of the 2015 championship.

The current Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM is leading the 2015 season with Pascal Wehrlein from team Gooix/Original-Teile at the wheel. Meanwhile, the Mercedes-AMG C 63 set to challenge the 2016 title of the popular Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters touring car series will no longer use the W204 series C-Class Coupe as its basis but rely on the all-new C 63 Coupe instead.

The chassis is set to retain the carbon fiber monocoque solution complete with integrated roll cage made of steel. Drive is sent to the rear-wheels courtesy of a six-speed sequential gearbox. Center stage is taken by the 4.0-liter V8 engine, good for 500 HP.

Just as you might suspect, the mighty V8 could deliver more, a lot more in fact. But, according to current regulations, teams are not allowed to use significantly different specifications for their DTM racing cars, hence the maximum power restricted to the aforementioned output.

The 2016 Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM car is the last developed under the more relaxed European DTM rules. From 2017 onward, all racing models will have to comply not only with the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters regulations, but also with the ones governed by the Super GT Japanese touring car championship. This translates to similar specs in both the chassis and aerodynamic department as well as running the smaller 2.0-liter four-cylinder engines of Super GT fame.
