If you own a 1990-1992 Mercedes 250 GD, the American Expedition Motor Company can turn it into a modern off-roader that combines the air of a classic off-roader with modern technologies.

Expedition Motor Company is one of the oldest restoration companies in the US and they have restored no less than 82 Mercedes 250 GD models produced between 1990 and 1992.

The model we present below is a 1991 Mercedes 250 GD and is very attractive because it is equipped with a 5-speed automatic transmission code number 722.6 taken from the S-Class because the first generation G-Class (W460) had only 4 and 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmissions (720.1). The automatic transmission is mated to the OM602 5-cylinder naturally aspirated diesel engine which is one of the most reliable engines on the planet. With a displacement of 2.5 litres, this engine develops 86 HP/5150 rpm and a maximum torque of 154 Nm/2,200-2,800 rpm.

The 6-seater convertible is painted in Gulf Blue, which contrasts elegantly with the black wheels, wheels arches and bumpers, and has a durable Praline vinyl interior. It features modern comfort elements such as air conditioning and a multimedia system with AppleCarPlay connection.

1450 hours of handwork went into the detailed restoration of this classic off-roader. The engine was completely disassembled, the compression in each cylinder was checked, the cylinder head gasket was replaced and the water pump and timing belt were replaced. The axles and differentials were removed and new seals and gaskets were used for fitting. Also, the rims and tyres are new and the springs and shock absorbers were replaced.

The body has been removed from the chassis and has been corrosion protected. And the custom interior is completely new.
The price of this superb Mercedes 250 GD is $164,900, a price higher than the current Mercedes G 350 d which has almost 4 times more power. But this generation no longer offers a convertible version which makes this 250 GD quite unique.
