The Mansory tuner has produced a super G 63 AMG 6×6 available in a limited series of only ten examples. Mansory Gronos is based on a Mercedes G 63 AMG and delivers 900 PS and 1,200 Nm.

In 2013, Mercedes presented the Mercedes G 63 AMG 6×6, the first Mercedes 6×6 since 1941. The massive 4-seater pick-up truck with a 5.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine developing 544 PS and 760 Nm measured 5.875 m in length, 1.213 m longer than the G 63 AMG 4×4 version.
Just over 100 examples were produced at the Magna Steyr plant in Graz, Austria, for a price of around 450,000 euros.

Last year, Mercedes unveiled the Mansory Gronos 4×4 based on a Mercedes G 63 AMG 4×42, developing 850 PS (838 bhp) from the 4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, which in the Mercedes G 63 AMG 4×42 delivers 585 PS.

Mansory has taken it to the next level and made a 6×6 version based on a G 63 AMG 4×4 rather than the G 63 AMG 6×6 variant. According to the press release, the conversion of a standard Mercedes G63 into a pick-up truck with a double cab is generally carried out while retaining the original design language. If desired, individual carbon parts can now be installed on every MANSORY complete conversion, the design of which can be determined by the customer.

Suicide rear doors

Since many Mercedes G-Class owners travel in the rear seats, Mansory decided to offer them increased comfort and the high level of comfort starts with rear seat access. The Mansory Gronos 6×6 differs from a G63 AMG 6×6 in that the rear doors open in reverse, like the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, making it easier to get in the back, in line with the motto “New Access of Luxury”.

The conversion, which can only be seen from the outside at a second glance, involves a lot of technical and structural effort. Not only does the door mounts from the B-pillar to the C-pillar have to be moved in a mirror image, but the entire door opening technology, including the door handles, also has to be repositioned in order to maintain the harmonious appearance of the car.

As with other Mansory models, the interior can be customized by the customer on request in terms of leather upholstery, colors, stitching, and carbon inserts. The roof lining is equipped with more than 3,000 LEDs and was installed at the request of a customer. However, the roof lining can be customized just like the rest of the car.

Also, the seat belts, aluminum pedals, leather steering wheel, quilted leather floor mats, and grab handles with the Mansory logo make the Mansory Gronos 6×6 a very special vehicle.

Engine with 900 PS and 1,200 Nm

The drive train has been modified and fitted with high-performance shock absorbers, a massively reinforced front axle, portal gears on all axles, and lockable differentials in the longitudinal and transverse directions, making the Mansory Gronos 6×6 250 mm taller and wider. Thanks to the frame extension, the length has increased by 1,375 mm.

Depending on customer demand, the Mansory Gronos 6×6 can be supplied with off-road or on-road tires or both. For on-road tires, Mansory offers Pirelli Scorpion ATR 325/55 R22 tires mounted on 10 x 22-inch YN.5 rims. The off-road tires are 37 x 12.50 x 20 mounted on 9 x 20-inch rims.

As with the Mercedes G 63 AMG 6×6, thanks to an integrated tire inflation system with a high-performance compressor and a control unit in the cockpit, the air pressure in all six tires can be adjusted to the respective terrain conditions at any time – and all without getting out of the vehicle.

The twin-turbo V8 engine has received new turbines benefiting from an increased boost pressure of up to 3.45 bar, new intercoolers, two high-pressure fuel pumps, adapted transmission and CPC software, a sports air filter, and a sports exhaust that has raised maximum power and torque from 585 PS and 800 Nm to 900 PS and 1,200 Nm (plus 315 PS and 400 Nm).

The Mansory Gronos 6×6 will be built in a very limited series of only ten examples. Mansory does not give details about the price and it depends on the customization chosen by the customer. Considering the much higher power, the limited series, and the modifications made to the bodywork to fit the suicide doors, the price will surely easily pass the 1 million euro mark.
