Is Lorinser mad? No. Few cars are as suitable for a camping adventure in the wilderness as an old Mercedes G-Class. They understand that at Lorinser and, in the absence of a Mercedes-Benz G-Class, they took a Puch G as the basis for the ultimate jungle camper.
In the 21st century, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class has mainly developed into a status symbol for rappers, football players and people who – let’s call it – come in ‘different ways’. If you find a G-Class next to the urban jungle, chances are that it is an older copy from the time that there were no glimmers on it.
Then the chance increases that it is a fairly rare Puch G, like the car we see here in these photos. From 1979 to 2000, Steyr-Daimler-Puch built the G-Wagen under license, and Puch was certainly not tempted to turn the G-Class into a luxury item. This is unadulterated functionality and no-nonsense.
All in all, therefore, a perfect basis for a motorhome that can take a beating. This 1993 copy was grabbed by Lorinser and transformed into a mobile house for all terrains. The car did not have to go to a body builder to get behind its high living quarters, because Lorinser took a hardtop version as a basis. It already has the large build-up on its own.
Of course, everything was thoroughly renovated and provided with a new lacquer. To make campers comfortable, Lorinser installed a stove, 220v sockets (powered via camping plug or solar panels), a microwave, a kitchen unit, a folding table and a sofa that can be converted into a double bed.
As said, the car was thoroughly refurbished to look as good as new. We see that not only in the interior and exterior, but in particular also under the hood. The 116 hp four-cylinder with 80,000 kilometers on the odometer was still in very good condition, according to Lorinser, but was nevertheless thoroughly checked.
It looks almost as fresh in the engine compartment as it looked on delivery in 1993. Do not expect amazing performance from this block, but enough pulling power to go off the beaten track with the G. Interested? Whether you can leave € 69,000 with Lorinser.
