Mercedes-AMG Project One, the new hypercar developed by the Daimler sports division, will be launched next month in Frankfurt. The first official video teaser is starring Lewis Hamilton, three-time Formula One champion.
The clip presents the MercedesGP pilot reminding of the outstanding performance of the legendary 300CE 6.0 AMG, the fastest street car back in its day. Then Hamilton climbs into a lift to take him to a secret floor where the new Mercedes-AMG Project One hypercar is hiding. Unfortunately, the movie stops here without giving us the chance to admire the design lines of the new high-performance model.
The hybrid Hypercar will borrow the technology from Formula 1. Rumors talk about a 1.6-liter V6 turbo engine taken from the Mercedes-AMG F1. It will engage the rear wheels, and two turbochargers should contribute to the development of a maximum power of about 900 hp. In addition, a front-mounted electric motor powered by a KERS energy recovery system will take the total system power over the 1,000 hp psychological threshold.
