Lewis Hamilton gave us a glimpse of the next car heading towards his dream garage, none other than the Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG 6×6 mammoth.

The new addition seems a bit peculiar given the diminutive driver’s… err, stature quoted at 5’9”. Lewis clearly had a rough job jumping aboard the 6×6 behemoth and things won’t get any sweeter if the G 63 will take the mantle of the Formula 1 champs’ daily driver.

What makes Hamilton’s decision to get a G 63 AMG 6×6 is even more interesting in light of Mercedes’ announcement that the glitzy pick-up is in fact sold out. AMG only built the G 63 6×6 in limited numbers, so Lewis is probably bound to receive one of the units put aside for Mercedes’ own museum or for publicity events.

The monster pick-up truck took its inspiration from the similar, but infinitely more austere model developed specifically for the Australian army. It is 5867 mm long, 2111 mm wide and 2209 mm tall and features two extra wheels and an additional axle. Power comes from the same 536 HP 5.5-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine used by its humbler and smaller G63 AMG 5-door sibling. Drive is sent to all six wheels via a 7-speed automatic gearbox.

With a starting price in excess of 500.000 euros, the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6 was the exception which confirmed the rule. Which rule? The one which says ‘money is no object’.
