Lewis Hamilton was face to face with the Mercedes-AMG ONE. The six-time Formula 1 World Champion met the hypercar with the star at a testing venue in Millbrook. Mercedes-AMG is unsuccessfully trying to keep the car a secret, but that seems next to impossible.
The prototype still bears the thick layer of camouflage hiding its shape. With six titles in his CV and 84 grand prix wins, rushing after Michael Schumacher record in Formula 1, Lewis Hamilton was the right man to check out the Mercedes-AMG street-legal Silver Arrow. He is also a hypercars enthusiast, since he is the owner of a Pagani Zonda, a McLaren P1 and of a Ferrari LaFerrari.
Hamilton is also set to get the ONE once the deliveries commence next year, according to the schedule. Each of them will have a starting price of 2,75 million Euros.
The Mercedes-AMG ONE is being developed in partnership with the Formula 1 division in Brixworth, in order to ideally transfer the high-performance of racing cars into the future model that carries out the competition technology. Even though completely hidden under the camouflage, the car is impossible to be kept a secret, since it sounds almost identically with a Formula 1 racing car, as the Brit driver confirms.
Shock twist – Is Hamilton leaving Mercedes for Ferrari in 2021?
Equipped with an all-wheel drive system and weighing approximately 1,2 tons, the hypercar is set to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 3 seconds and reaching a top speed above 300 km/h. A lithium-ion battery will provide it with an electric range of approximately 25 kilometers.
The ONE is powered by a hybrid system that integrates a 1.6-liter V6 engine, mate with four electric motors, that deliver together over 1,000 horsepower.
