It is the ladies’ choice for 2014, so who would dare to contradict them? The Mercedes-Benz S-Class has been voted Women’s Car of the Year, by an international jury of female motoring journalists.
The ladies of the automotive journalism from all over the world had to judge ten different criteria, including the design, the style, the comfort, the “wow” factor, sex-appeal, the value for money and last, but not least, the feeling behind the wheel. Twenty ladies from 15 countries decided that the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is the best car in the world in 2014. Surprisingly and for the first time in the 5-year voting competition history, all female experts voted for the exact same car.
Audi A8 and Tesla S came in second and third position.
With high-end technology, innovative safetys systems and topping the luxury class, the S proved to be a head turner for the ladies, not only for the gentlemen.
The first woman president of the New Zealand Motorsport Media Association, Sandy Myhre is the founder of the Women’s World Car of the Year. With a 50-year experience in the automotive division, Mrs. Myhre is praising all participants: “The winning car companies can be justifiably proud for their achievement, because it is hard to make it to the short list and to win a category, let alone the supreme trophy.”
The official supreme trophy awarded to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is a ceramic plate with hand-painted inscriptions, designed and produced by Keri Blue, a manufacturer from New Zealand. The award will be presented to Daimler AG in the first quarter of 2015.
