It may look like a stock Mercedes-Benz S-Class W223 at first glance. But that’s not what INKAS is presenting in this photo gallery. What you see is their latest armored sedan.

The car they worked on is the Mercedes-Benz S 580 4MATIC. The mod it went through will surely not make it stand out. That’s not what you want, but exactly the opposite, when you’re trying to safeguard your life.

But if you take a closer look, you’ll think your eyesight is playing tricks on you. That’s right, you can’t see through those windows. Why is that? Because they feature ballistic protection. That’s what armored cars do.

The luxury sedan with BR6 protection level sports multi-layer bullet-resistant glass and provides full perimeter protection of the passenger compartment. It can thus withstand simultaneous detonations of two DM51 grenades and attacks with 7.62-millimeter ammunition.

It also comes with run-flat tires that would help it travel some 80 kilometers more after they get perforated by bullets.

INKAS also offers optional fire suppression systems and an onboard oxygen supply that would provide protection in case of a chemical attack. There is the thermal night vision system, so the driver knows where he’s going even if he needs to keep the headlights off. Strobe lights, a siren and a public address system are also on the menu. A head of state would definitely need those.

With all the extra weight, the armored Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedan needed a reinforced suspension. There is a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 under the hood. It channels 503 PS (496 HP) and 699 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque towards both axles via a nine-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel drive 4MATIC system. The stock version runs from zero to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.4 seconds. But with all the extra weight, it’s impossible to be that fast.

The armored Mercedes-Benz S-Class is available worldwide. Price is available upon request.
