“Life’s a journey, not a destination”, Aerosmith’s “Amazing” hit used to say back in early 90s. And when it comes to the Mercedes-Benz GLA, he might have been just right. Mercedes-Benz is presenting “A Trip Home for the Holidays” short motion picture.
With the hands on the steering wheel of the GLA 250 4MATIC, New York native photographer Alden Wallace, his soon to be wife, Anna, and their friends, start the long journey to their native place, just in time to join their family for the holidays. The ride depicts the seasonal beauty and vibrant local culture across the US.
Unlike flying, the way home in the GLA gives everyone a window seat with a view to the Blue Ridge Mountains. And quite a view that is! Just below the Chimney Rock, in North Carolina, they stopped for a superb lunch break, at the spot where people go hiking, bird watching, fishing and rock climbing. All these are also included in Alden Wallace’s hobby list.
The team of four also stopped at Flying Cloud Farm later on, for some last minute shopping for the holiday dinner. And they lingered just long enough to watch the sunset. Now living in the city of Venice, California, has its perks, but the raw mountain air and colorful bright sceneries remind the quartet how good it feels to escape into nature every now and then. Back on their way home, along the 450 miles long Ridge Parkway, they can’t take their eyes off the breathtaking views. Well, except for the driver, who needs to keep his eyes on the road.
And then they finally reach home, where the loved ones wait, just in time for Christmas.
The Mercedes-Benz GLA is proudly parked in the driveway. A few days later, the car will be back on the road again. But first, let’s watch the long way home:
This was not the first project that the American photographer Alden Wallace develops together with Mercedes-Benz. This past summer, he took the CLA for a ride, for some amazing photos on the shore of the Pacific Ocean.
