China’s affection for LWB cars is common knowledge. Hence, the all-new Mercedes E-Class long-wheelbase. The new limo has been spied for the first time and we have the pictures to prove it.
PCauto is the source of the leak. According to the Chinese blog, the future E-Class LWB will benefit from a 140 mm increase in wheelbase lenght. That amounts to 5.5 inch for our American readers. Total lenght was also augmented by another 142 mm or 5.6 inch.
Design-wise, the Chinese bound Mercedes E-Class long-wheelbase is set apart from its regular sibling by the longer rear doors, similar in style to those of the future Mercedes-Maybach E-Class, already spied testing.
The interior is also said to be identical to the one already seen on the regular wheelbase model, complete with the dual screen binacles with 12.3-inch in diagonal.
According to the inscription on the boot, the prototype spied by PCauto is an E 200 L model. In other words, it is powered by a 2-liter four-pot turbo engine good for 184 HP. There will also be an E 250 L variant, expected to deliver 211 HP.
If you already fancy the prospect of enjoying the extra legroom offered by the Mercedes E-Class long-wheelbase, don’t get too ramped up. The LWB model will be available exclusively in China while its assembly will be taken care of by the Beijing-Benz local joint-venture.
