Freightliner Cascadia gets good design awards for its great looks

Who would have thought that a freight truck would get a design awards for its good looks? Daimler introduced the new Freightliner Cascadia almost a year ago, setting new standards in connectivity, fuel efficiency and safety. The vehicle got the attention of the Good Design jury, that designated it the truck with the best of interiors.

The US-based Daimler subsidiary has just received its first award for 2018. And it has been granted by one of the most prestigious competitions in terms of industrial design. The Freightliner got the juries attention for its functional and attractive features. Some of the most successful brands in the sector competed for the trophy granted to the one with the best interior, yet the Mercedes-originated truck won.

The interior of the Cascadia integrated innovate technology in an impressive combo with the ergonomic design. It provides the driver with a highly optimized dashboard and a plethora of seat-configurations to turn long drives into pleasure.

The on-board “living room” offers storage space similar to a luxury RV, but also functional features such as the standard-sized microwaves and flat TV screen.

Over 20,000 units have been sold since the date of its launch, the spring of 2017. Daimler’s North American commercial vehicles division covers for a market share of 39.2% in the 6 to 8 tons categories, holding its position as the undisputed market leader in the medium and heavy-duty trucks segments in North America.
