Lewis Hamilton, 35, became the richest athlete in the history of Great Britain, according to an analysis carried out by The Sunday Times publication.
The driver who won six Formula One titles had a net income of 224 million pounds (254 million euros). Hamilton signed his current contract with Mercedes in 2018. This brings him up to 40 million pounds (45 million euros) a year, including bonuses.
In total, Lewis Hamilton’s fortune increased in 2019 by 37 million pounds. This means that his daily income, compared to 365 days in a calendar year, is practically 700,000 euros!
Hamilton’s current contract expires at the end of the current season, but discussions for another three-year extension are close to completion. Mercedes officials are ready to put on the table 60 million pounds, especially since there are not many options to replace a driver of Hamilton’s value.
Lewis Hamilton has six world titles under his belt, one with McLaren and five with Mercedes. The Briton has won the third consecutive title and sixth in Formula 1 in 2019.
Lewis Hamilton has been at Mercedes since 2013 and said after winning the sixth career title he is convinced he will remain with the German team.
