In 2015, Mercedes will launch an updated ML in Europe which will be available in the US as a 2016 model.

The 2016 model year Mercedes M-Class for USA (2015 in Europe) will see some major cosmetic changes happening. A single-bar grille with a different overall look is being installed, and changes are also being made to the headlights and daytime running light bar. The character lines going the length of the car are now completely different and the bezel of the outer wheel arch has been softened. The taillights are completely unchanged and have been left visible, but this could just be an early prototype.

The engine range for Europe will suffer important changes. The 3.5 litre normal aspirated engine (ML 350) will be replace by the new bi-turbo V6 with 333 HP (ML 400) which will have a displacement of 3.5 litre (and not 3 litre) like in the E and CLS Class. In USA ML 400 with 3 litre bi-turbo 329 HP is already on sale on actual model together with ML 350 (natutal aspirated V6  3,5 litre engine).

For both continents the main news will be the new Plug-In hybrid ML 500 Plug-In which will compete against the new Porsche Cayenne Plug-In Hybrid. ML 500 Plug-In will not have a V8 engine like the name suggest, but a 3.0 liter V6 bi-turbo with 329 HP and 359 lb-ft of torque (333 HP and 480 Nm in Europe) combined with an electric motor with 107 HP and 251 lb-ft.(340 Nm in Europe). It is expected that ML 500 Plug-In hybrid to be priced at the level of ML 500.
