If you lay eyes on this Mercedes-Maybach S 580 with a sober interior, you would not even come close to guessing how the interior looks. The Brabus Masterpiece is some exquisite piece of engineering and design.
Sober, mysterious, dark. That’s how one can describe this luxury sedan. But Brabus has some other ideas. They call it the Brabus 600, because… you know what they do: tune up engines then call them using the PS figure. They also came up with Masterpiece. But let’s see, is it what they claim?
The Mercedes-Maybach S 580 dressed up to the nines. It now displays a carbon-fiber bodykit, but it is one that would not make jaws drop. It’s only in the front bumper intake surrounds, splitter, and rear diffuser. The German tuner dropped the chrome details and put on the dark Shadow Chrome finish. Dark are the 22-inch Brabus Monoblock M Platinum Edition forged wheels as well.
The Brabus Masterpiece badges show up on the boot lid and D-pillar, there where the Maybach double M logo used to be.
The interior though, tells a whole different story. Gone are the neutral shades the Maybach owners usually tick as options. Brabus put in there a mint shade that they call Turquoise Blue. The leather features Seashell Diamond quilting, while carbon fiber covers the dashboard, the center tunnel and door inserts.
And if you know anything about Brabus, you know that is not all. The twin-turbo 4.0-liter V engine now hits 600 PS (591 HP) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. When the car rolled off the assembly line, that engine stopped at 503 PS (496 HP) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft). All these resources are transferred to both axles via the nine-speed automatic transmission.
The Brabus 600 Masterpiece now flashes from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.5 seconds. That’s 0.3 seconds faster than stock. But the needle of the odometer still stops at 250 km/h (155 mph).
